Bosch has released a new battery system for their line of cordless tools. These new batteries have a lifetime that is 50% longer than traditional batteries and includes chargers that charge in just 30 minutes. The secret to the two packs is a combination of new heat rods inside the batteries and a microchip to let the charger know what's going on inside the pack while charging.

I just went to The Woodworking Shows yesterday. All the rest of the contributing editors either went or are going, too, so you may see a few more posts about the whole affair before we're through.

Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents on Li-Ion batteries.
To sum it up, they rock. I'm pretty sure that current tools use Ni-Mh not Ni-Cad.
So the Ni-Cad argument is outdated anyway.

The good news is that Milwaukee are introducing a new line of 28 volt lithium-ion battery powered cordless tools. The bad news is that stalwart Milwaukee is now another TTI brand.

I'm always amazed at how many woodworkers don't know about calipers. These little metal instruments of hyperaccurate joyous delight are an absolute staple for machinists; they wouldn't be caught dead without one. Yet many woodworkers don't have one and wouldn't know what to do with it if they did.

In an old post, I let you know about the decline of Ridgid. Specifically, how they slashed their warranty and outsourced tool production to the far east. Well, "someone" anonymously took issue with that, so I updated the article.

I was looking for a good review on router bits recently. A major woodworkers magazine claimed to have done a comprehensive review on 12 brands of router bits. Their conclusion? More expensive bits cut better. Saywhat? So when I stumbled on a non-moronic review of router bits yesterday I thought I should share.

Home Depot regularly carries 4x8 sheets of plywood that are maple on one side and birch on the other. If you compare to just about any other retail source, this is the cheapest you can find plywood with two presentable sides.
